Auro Padel is a Spanish company founded in early 2022, but its purpose was cultivated many years ago.

Over more than 20 years on the court, our founder worked with hundreds of players and realized an undeniable truth: most technical errors stem from how the racket is held.

Meet the creator and founder of Auro Padel

Marco Antonio Lucas Santos, born in Palencia, dedicated his entire life to racket sports. He's held a racket since he was 9 years old. He played tennis until he was 20, and then made a lifelong decision to dedicate himself to the world of padel.

He competed professionally for many years and has since become a padel coach. With over 30 years of experience in sports education, he has coached professional players such as Edu Alonso, Tamara Icardo, Álex Arroyo, Javi Rico, and many others. He is currently the coach of Ksenia Sharifova, the world's number 20 player according to the FIP rankings.

Throughout his coaching career, he has constantly faced a vital challenge for his students: establishing a proper grip. According to Marco Lucas, the way you hold the paddle is a determining factor in the technique of any shot:

“Learning to play padel by holding the racket incorrectly is like learning to play soccer by wearing your boots backwards.”

Say hello to Ksenia Sharifova

Our story cannot be understood without the story of Ksenia Sharifova. Born on the remote island of Sakhalin, Russia, Ksenia grew up surrounded by tennis rackets and big dreams. From a very young age, sport shaped her life, and it was precisely that passion that led her, at just 16 years old, to make a courageous and unusual decision: to move alone to Valencia, Spain, to pursue a career in professional tennis.

For years, his life revolved around discipline and sacrifice, until at age 20, with no clear direction and the pressure mounting, he decided to take a step back. He traded the court for the reception of a club, unaware that the racket had yet to say its final word.

The unexpected turn of events came at 24. Marco Lucas, padel coach and founder of Auro Padel, suggested she try the sport. At first, Ksenia was hesitant. Her first encounter with padel hadn't exactly been love at first sight.

But this time was different: under Marco's watchful eye, she began training intensively, and within weeks she was competing in her first tournament. What started as a trial became a passion. Padel gave her back her spark, her motivation... and a new purpose.

Ksenia decided to go all in. She quit her job and poured herself into building a career from scratch. No points, no sponsors, no guarantees. Just talent, a tireless work ethic, and an ironclad mentality. Step by step, qualifying in the early stages of the circuit, she began to make a name for herself.

Today, she's one of the most promising players on the international circuit. As a backhand player, her aggressive style, powerful smash, and tactical intelligence have led her to a world ranking of 20th.

For us, Ksenia isn't just an ambassador. She's the embodiment of the Auro spirit: self-improvement, evolution, and the certainty that with the right grip—the one of life and the one of the paddle—you can change your story.
